In order to get your window sticker for your Hyundai, regardless of if you drive a coupe or an SUV, you will need your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). What is a VIN? It is a unique seventeen-character string of numbers and capital letters that are specific to your vehicle. A vehicle’s VIN number tells the story of the vehicle. It keeps track of the vehicle history, including previous owners, accidents, and repairs.

Where can I find my Hyundai VIN?

VIN’s on Hyundais are located in one of the following locations:

  • Driver’s side door jam

What are some key details to know?

After you purchase your new vehicle there are some important bits of information to note about the description of Hyundai packages and what is left out of the window sticker.

How does Hyundai describe packages and options?

Hyundai describes packages and options to make them as appealing as possible to the typical person. They want the buyer to know they are getting a good deal up front with a safe, high-quality vehicle for a reasonable price.

When naming vehicles, there is no particular pattern surrounding them. Hyundai typically goes with names that are attention-grabbing. Some examples are listed below.

  • Sunset Orange, Stellar Silver, Oxford Blue, White Pearl, Thunder Gray

Signature Package: Includes extra touches on the seats, car lights, and mirrors

  • Auto-Dimming Side Mirrors

  • LED Fog Lights/Rearview Camera with Parking Guidelines

  • 7-inch color touchscreen display audio system (no CD player): comes in the Limited and SEL Plus models

Engine:

An additional fee in some instances can include an upgraded engine. The options below show the 2020 Santa Fe and which engines come with which model variation.

What does the window sticker not provide?

A window sticker will not provide information on whether a used car has had aftermarket parts installed from a previous owner and/or the original dealer. Since the window sticker shows the vehicle as it came from the factory, the information is never updated in the system. Information about the current vehicle condition or any history of accidents will not be included on the window sticker.

When does this Free Hyundai Window Sticker or VIN decoder not work?

There are a few instances to be aware of when trying to use this VIN decoder or Window sticker that will inhibit you from using it.

Reasons the VIN decoder will not work:

  • The vehicle models older than 2013 typically cannot use a VIN decoder

  • VIN is not 17 digits long (pre 1981 vehicles)

  • VIN contains illegal characters

  • Does not pass the checksum test

    • A test in the U.S. and Canada in the 9th position to determine the VIN’s validity
