The company, founded in 2006 in Northbrook is one of the leading and most affordable extended warranty service providers in the country. Endurance currently has a C+ rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB) but has hundreds of positive warranty reviews online. Endurance has built up the reputation for being a reliable option because they cover cars up to 20 years old, their policies are not too expensive and they work with almost all ASE certified mechanics across the country. They have a 30-day money-back guarantee and will give you a full refund if you change your mind. Repair claims are submitted to the company, and Endurance will pay the shop or you directly for parts and labor.

In this article, we will do a complete review of the Endurance Car Warranty. We will include information on how much their warranties cost, what plans they offer, what is covered and not covered under each plan, how to file a claim and how to appeal a claim if you feel you have been wrongfully denied.

How much do Endurance warranties cost?

When considering looking at purchasing an extended car warranty protection plan, it is important to evaluate the coverage options included in each plan and which is most applicable to you.

The cost of an Endurance warranty plan varies per vehicle (model and miles on it), level of coverage (plan selected), and the term length. All of these factors go into consideration when calculating the deductible. There are perks to each warranty plan that can be beneficial no matter what your budget is. The average cost for a plan typically ranges from $350 to $700 per year and is broken down into smaller monthly payments. It’s important to note that the plans offered by dealerships are usually at least $100 more compared to other options offering extended warranties.

What does an Endurance car warranty cover?

An Endurance car warranty covers a multitude of services, depending on the plan selected. If you are interested in a breakdown of what is specified in the warranty coverage, sample contracts can be found on the Endurance website.

The plans are listed below.

Elite Membership

All plans include a one year access to elite membership with the following benefits:

  • Identity theft recovery

  • Key fob replacement if lost or stolen

  • Repair finance: up to $5,000 in repair loans

  • Tire repair: reimbursed for up to two replaced or repaired tires a year

  • Discounts: $250 to spend with company sponsors

  • 24/7 Roadside Assistance (once every 72 hours)

    • Battery start

    • Towing service (within 25 miles to the closest compliant facility)

    • Fuel and parts delivery

    • Flat Tire Change

    • Lockout assistance

  • Rental Car Reimbursement

    • In the event of a covered breakdown, and your car has to be in the shop for a few days, $30/day will be given for up to 5 days for a rental car or public transportation.

  • Trip Interruption

    • If your car breaks down more than 100 miles away from your house, up to $450 will be given to reimburse to help cover food and lodging expenses if your car breaks down.

Select Premier Plan (high-mileage vehicles)

This protection plan is for vehicles with high-mileage and will cover those with up to 200,000 miles on them.

What Does The Endurance Warranty Not Cover?

Although the coverage plans include a year of the Endurance Elite Membership and various other vehicle protection options, some things are not covered through the contract. The following items are parts or situations that endurance warranty will not cover the costs of:

  • Wear-and-tear damage

  • Damage to the glass or paint

  • Damage caused by environmental factors such as earthquakes, floods, and storms

  • Corrosion

  • Pre-existing conditions

  • Damages and breakdowns from a collision

  • Fire

  • Theft

  • Vandalism

  • Improper use or improper maintenance

  • Vehicles over 200,000 miles

How to file a claim for an endurance car warranty?

If your vehicle is in need of repair, you will need to take it to a licensed repair shop (for-profit, recognized by the state) immediately. After arriving, provide the shop with a copy of your Endurance contract or contract number and have their service manager contact Endurance to clear the claim.

Claims made without authorization will not be covered unless they fall under the Emergency repairs category. The Emergency repairs category means the Endurance office is closed and the vehicle is deemed unsafe or inoperable to drive and is in need of immediate service.

The service manager will review with you what is covered by your warranty contract and what is now. After this consultation, you should be aware of what repair will be covered by Endurance and what you will have to pay out of pocket for. At the end of your visit, there will be a deductible paid to the facility. Repair orders and documentation must be submitted within thirty days to be eligible for payment. The reports will be processed and either you or the repair shop will be reimbursed. The steps to file a claim are listed on your contract and can be assessed on the Endurance Protect App.

What to do if the Endurance car warranty doesn’t cover my claim?

There are some instances in which the claims are not covered due to unexpected events or those out of your control. If your claim is denied, it is typically because the repair shop is recommending repairs and parts that are unnecessary. This is a common issue at some dealerships and repair shops that are looking to make more money. Another common instance in which Endurance does not cover full claims is when the repair shop adds on hours above what the standard average is for the repair. To avoid this, ensure your repair shop does their job well and does it in a timely manner, so you are not penalized with any out-of-pocket costs. Lastly, be sure to test your vehicle for pre-existing issues before signing up for an extended warranty plan. Mechanics can easily tell what parts have been causing issues for a while and will be able to tell Endurance if the issues are old or new. On the chance that the issue is old, the company will not cover the charges to fix it.

If you feel that your claim was wrongfully denied, you can appeal your claim with the steps listed below.

  • Re-submit your claim

    • Attach a letter explaining why you think your claim was denied incorrectly. Explain what component failed and why it’s covered in your contract.

    • Make a copy of your documents and letter

    • Mail the letter to the company

  • Follow-up on your claim

    • Call until they confirm they received your letter

    • Record the people’s names you speak with

  • If denied again, talk to the selling dealer that sold you the contract

    • Speak with the finance manager and explain your situation

  • Follow the Claim Appeal Process

    • Follow the process listed on the agreement

    • If the turns nothing up, contact the finance manager again, and if they won’t help, speak with the GM of the dealership and explain the situation

  • If none of these work

    • Talk to a consumer protection lawyer
